The book I’m sharing with you all today is a “beary” cute book…sorry for the corny word, but it really is! The book Bear’s Day Out by Michael Rosen (who happens to be the same author of the bestseller We’re going on a Bear Hunt) is about a Bear that leaves his cave as he wanders to the beach, gets on a train, and ventures into the city. During his adventure, the Bear gets lost. However, with the help of children who notice he’s lost, they help him set off on the journey back home.
This book is a fun and creative book for any child. The rhyming flows throughout the book and has word sounds like “Vroom vroom” for cars and “Chuffy chuff” for trains. This is the kind of book you could find yourself literally singing-a-long to just because of the rhythm. The illustrations, done by Adrian Reynolds, are colorful and bright. They bring the bear to life, as well as all of the places that he ventures off to. Kirkus Reviews says “Reynolds’s colorful illustrations are large and luscious, with the atmospheric and idyllic shore scenes at beginning and end providing a contrast to the busier perspectives and crowded scenes in the town and on the train. Pure delight.”
So if you are looking for a book to snuggle up to in your bed, check out this one. You’ll find yourself wanting to read/sing-a-long with it again and again.
