Book Blogger Appreciation Week Day 4: Pimp that Book (Arthur’s Computer Disaster)

Hello Everyone! So it’s day four of the BBAW and the topic is: Pimp that Book. This was honestly really difficult (as I’m sure it was for many of you) however, the book I decided to do was one of the Arthur series books. I love all of these series books, so it was hard to just pick one. The Arthur series were some of my best childhood memory books. They were the books that I would check out over and over again at the library, and then go home and watch the Arthur show on PBS. So I thought I’d give one of the books a little recognition. Below you will find a review on Arthur’s Computer Disaster by Marc Brown. I did this review just like all the other books I’ve done so it included the same information. I hope you all enjoy!

Title of Book: Arthur’s Computer Disaster

Time length to read: 4-5 min

Age recommend: 5-9

Have you ever had a time where you wish you could just turn back the clock to fix a mistake? Well, you’re not alone. In the book Arthur’s Computer Disaster by Marc Brown, Arthur learns a valuable lesson after disobeyeing his mother. Arthur has become addicted to playing a computer game on the family computer. However, when Arthur’s mother leaves the house one day, she asks Arthur not to touch the computer. Despite being told that, Arthur and his friend Buster can’t resist and get on the computer to play their game. Then when Arthur and Buster try and both reach for the mouse, the computer screen goes blank. Now the dilemma of fixing the computer before Arthur’s mom gets home faces them. This book is a great example that will teach children about the importance of listening to their parents, and the consequences that can happen when they don’t. The Illustration (which is also done by Marc Brown) is very colored detatiled and brings the character’s expressions and actions to life. Ronyell from goodreads.com says “Overall, “Arthur’s Computer Disaster” is a brilliant book for children who need to know about the consequences of disobedience while having a great time with Arthur and the gang!” So if you haven’t already, check this book and the other Arthur series books out! It’s filled with wonderful adventures that will leave great memories.

  1. You know, I have never read any of the Arthur books… I think I used to get them confused with Babar (which was more in my time). I do have a nephew, now, who has just turned two… so maybe I’ll keep these in mind for a bit later!

  2. My kids have quite a few of them in our personal library. We need like two full bookshelves to fully hold all of their books. I’m a BIG fan of children’s books. I will definitely read your blog! :)

  3. That’s cool to hear! Yeah I watched and read Arthur a TON when I was little, so It’s cool to hear kids now reading them as well. And thanks Karah, it means a lot that you tune into my blog! If you have any children’s book suggestions that you’d like to see reviewed, don’t hesitate to recommend them! :)

  4. Sounds good! One book that my kids really loved lately was Ahchoo! Lion’s Got the Flu by Hagino Chinatsu. My daughter got it from her school library and both my children made me read it over and over. My three year old even tried to “read” it back to me. It was adorable and a lot of fun for us. You might want to check it out! :)
