Book Blogger Appreciation Week Day Two: Interview

Hey everyone! As you all know, I am participating in the Book Blogger Appreciation Week (BBAW) and today’s topic is the interview. I had to do the alternative topic, since I only found out about the BBAW yesterday and missed the sign-up for the partner interviews. So here’s a little post about me, the writer. I hope you all enjoy!

Do you snack while you read? If so, favorite reading snack?

I do snack sometimes…I mean it’s hard to say because sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t. When I’m reading a really good book it’s hard for me to put it down sometimes, even if it is to eat! However, if I do snack it’s usually like oreos or twizzlers.

Do you tend to mark your books as you read, or does the idea of
writing in books horrify you?

If it’s my own book, I might, but I never write in a book that isn’t mine. When I was in college, I would write in text books to keep notes, but then again, we had to buy the books so it didn’t really matter to me.

How do you keep your place while reading a book? Bookmark? Dog-ears?

I try and find a bookmark to keep place of where I’m reading, whether it’s a piece of paper or something. I did Dog-ears a lot, but not so much anymore.

Laying the book flat open?

A children’s book I usually do. A chapter book…usually no; it gets to hard especially if it’s a big chapter book.

Fiction, Non-fiction, or both?

Both!

Hard copy or audiobooks?

Hard copy for sure. I find myself paying more attention while reading if I have it right in front of me.

Are you a person who tends to read to the end of chapters, or are you
able to put a book down at any point?

Most of the time I read to the end of the chapter. Otherwise I lose place of where I was or can’t remember what was going on/etc.

If you come across an unfamiliar word, do you stop to look it up right away?

Haha, umm..sometimes. If I’m too “into” the book, I might re-read the paragraph/sentance to try and figure out what they were meaning. If I really have no idea, then it will drive me nuts, so I do look it up.

What are you currently reading?

A whole bunch of children’s books to review for you all. You’ll see which ones soon. :)

What is the last book you bought?

That is such a hard question, because the last book I bought was like the last Harry Potter book. However, that doesn’t mean I don’t read. I just usually like to go borrow books from my local library.

Are you the type of person that only reads one book at a time or can
you read more than one at a time?

Definitely one at a time.

Do you have a favorite time of day and/or place to read?

Probably my house. However, I can read just about anywhere.

Do you prefer series books or stand alone books?

Both. The reason I say that is because some books work good in series. Other books are good enough just ending and not having another.

Is there a specific book or author that you find yourself recommending over and over?

There are so many, but the particular Author that pops into my head right now is: Sharon Creech.

How do you organize your books? (By genre, title, author’s last name, etc.?)

Probably the Author’s last name, just habit since that’s how they do it at my local library. Well, for the children’s books anyways.

  1. I am a public library addict. We’re there at least once a week. Much easier on my budget to read all the books I want to that way :) Thanks for the interview! Fun to learn a little more about the person behind the blog!

  2. I’m a library user too – so lucky to have an awesome library system! I think I would get an eReader for the ability to look up definitions – because otherwise, I’m too enthralled with the book to go hunting for a dictionary.

  3. I remember reading Sharon Creech’s novels when I was younger, I think she had a book that was a Newbery winner? I haven’t had a chance to reread them though. Hope you had fun answering these BBAW questions. :)
